Youth Basketball Academy now offering Skillz Development Programs in the Rockford Area

Area youth basketball players who want to improve their skills can check out Hoopsterz Basketball Academy. The academy is run by Keith Country Day School Head Boys Varsity Basketball Coach Matt Yarc.

This fall, there will be two different basketball skill development programs (the Skillz Night Training and BPD Skillz Development) for boys and girls ages 5th through 12th grade. These sessions will be held at Rivers Edge Recreation Center, 1151 W. Locust Ave., Belvidere. The BPD Skillz Development starts on Thursday September 13, 2012. (This note was posted after the Skillz Night was held.)

Another program called Skillz and Scrimmage offers a one day camp for each gender. The boys camp will be held October 8th, while the girls camp will be November 12th.

Rockford region hosts 2012 Puma Labor Day Cup at Sportscore Two Sept. 1-2 | The Rock River Times

The Rockford Region will host the 2012 Puma Labor Day Cup Invitational this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 1-2.

More than 100 teams from around the Midwest are expected to participate. The annual event brings 8,500 soccer players, coaches, families and fans to the region. The tournament produces approximately $202,500 for the local economy...

RiverHawks outslug Road Warriors 17-9, earn sweep | The Rock River Times

LOVES PARK, Ill. — The Rockford RiverHawks set season highs in runs and hits Thursday, Aug. 30, and beat the Road Warriors 17-9 to earn the series sweep in their home finale at RiverHawks Stadium.

Rockford tallied a season-high 21 hits, with seven batters recording mult-hit games.
